About Project
The project “Social Media Addiction, Social Life's Extinction - Online Slavery" aims to create awareness and a multidimensional understanding of the irretrievable negative effects of social media addiction of students.
The basic approach of the project is protecting young people from the harmful effects of addiction and promoting offline (non-cyber) activities. In order to achieve its goals, the project addresses students (target group), teachers, parents, and school administrations throughout implementation.
The project also supports target groups with both educational services (questionnaires, seminars) and with practical actions (campaigns, contests, tournaments, clubs, outdoor activities), and promotes face-to-face peer interaction in order to avoid excessive use of social media.
Project Goals
At the end of the project, the students will gain:
- Public awareness on the harmful effects of excessive usage of social media
- Significant achievement in time management of target group (students)
- Increased motivation of the students towards school education and social/sportive activities
- Efficient usage of educational resources (and the Web) while making posters
- Improved communicative competence of students
- Physical development of young people, by means of physical activity and exercise
- Mental development of young people, by means of social activities and mind games
- More effective peer communication and cooperation
- Reduced stress and anxiety, by means of self-realization and self-consciousness
- More successful intra-family communication & coherence
- A better understanding of young people on social media, with benefits and risks
Project Plan
Oct-Nov: Conduct the surveys for students, parents, evaluation of the results (surveys are in TWINSPACE)
Nov: Informative seminars for students and parents
Oct-Jun: “AN HOUR OFFLINE” campaign for students, parents: school pinboard.
Oct-Dec: “Time management” seminars. Encouraging students to plan daily activities and to limit social media usage, reducing “screen time”
Nov-June: Sportive activities;/tournaments at schools: chess, table tennis, volleyball or other sports you choose
Dec-Apr: Student contests: slogan, photography, poster/drawing/short film or movie trailer (Web2.0 tools & A.R.)
Mar-May: Actual social activities: visits to elders’ home, to hospitals, charity organizations
Apr-Jun: Outdoor activities picnics, hiking, tree planting, etc
May: Conduct the final surveys for students and parents, evaluation of the results
Jun: Workshops: “A Practical Guide to Break Social Media Addiction" (Web2.0 tools)
(A webinar each month and interdisciplinary teacher participation)
